The practitioner's journey

Everything it takes to run a practice, in one place.

You trained to help people, not to wrestle with website builders, booking apps, payment links, email lists and spreadsheets. Practitioner puts the whole business side in one place, for one price, so you can get on with the work you love.

Why it exists

Most independent practitioners are brilliant at what they do, and quietly losing clients because the business side is patchy: a website that's out of date, a phone that rings while you're with someone, no easy way to book, nothing to bring people back.

The big booking sites take a cut of every client. Website builders give you a blank page and leave you to it. And none of them understand that a hypnotherapist, a reflexologist and a counsellor each need different things, with different rules about what they can say.

Practitioner is built the other way round: start with the practice, and give it everything it needs, already set up and already written for your kind of work.

From first search to loyal client

1. Get found

People can only book you if they can find you.

  • Your own website in one of ten designs, written for your kind of practice and ready in an afternoon
  • A page for each thing you help with, written the way people search ("help with sleep in Derby")
  • Your free place in the Practitioner directory, with paid adverts from 25p a week if you want more
  • Your offers and discount codes on their own page, where Google and discount-code websites can find them
  • Posters, business cards and partner cards with QR codes, and ready-written posts for Facebook, WhatsApp and Google

2. Get booked

Turning a visitor into a client, day or night, without the phone tag.

  • Online booking for in-person, online and phone sessions, with your own hours, breaks and days off
  • A free first chat, and if you work from home, "chat with me first" so you vet every new client before they book
  • Packages ("6 sessions"), group sessions, and classes that repeat every week or every month
  • Confirmations, reminders, a questions form and the client agreement, all sent for you
  • Waiting lists for full groups, and alerts when an earlier time frees up

3. Get paid

More than one way to earn, all from the same place.

  • Paid straight to your own account by card or PayPal: we never take commission on your bookings
  • A shop for guides, worksheets and recordings, plus free guides that grow your email list
  • Gift vouchers that never expire, sold from your site and sent on the day the buyer chooses
  • Invoices and receipts in your practice's name, for private clients and companies
  • A "What should I charge?" calculator for when you set your prices

4. Keep clients coming back

Your best new client is often someone who's been before.

  • Email offers to people who agreed to hear from you, with the UK rules built in so you can't get it wrong
  • A gentle "time for a top-up?" note, birthday treats, and seasonal emails already written for you
  • Refer a friend: your clients get a code to share, and you thank them with a voucher automatically
  • Reviews on your site from real bookings, and a nudge to leave one on Google

5. Grow

See what's working, then do more of it.

  • A home page made of the things you use most, with live numbers
  • Where your clients come from: which poster, partner, post or friend brought them, and what they spent
  • Run it from your phone as easily as from a computer

6. Stay safe and above board

The paperwork side, handled properly.

  • A code of conduct every member signs, and checks on qualifications, insurance and ID
  • Health questions kept encrypted, a session log and an incident log
  • Privacy policy and terms written for you, and a client's data deleted properly when they ask
  • Clients can report a concern straight to us, not to the practitioner

Before you start: what you'll need

About 15 minutes. You can stop at any point and carry on later.

For your website and bookings

  • Your practice name, your town, and a phone number clients can ring
  • Your website or Facebook page address, if you have one. We read it so your new site starts in your own words
  • What you do, and whether you're qualified or still training (students: your training school)
  • Your working week: the days and hours you see clients, and how long a session lasts
  • A price for a session, or something to sell (a gift voucher, a recording)
  • A debit or credit card. Nothing is taken in your free week

If you have them

  • Your insurance: insurer, policy number, the date your cover ends, and your certificate (PDF or a photo on your phone)
  • Your social media links: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and so on
  • A photo of you, and your logo

To get paid by card (you can do this later)

  • Your bank sort code and account number. Stripe, the payment company, will also ask for your home address and date of birth, and sometimes photo ID

For your "checked" badge in the directory (later, on the Checks page)

  • Your qualification certificate (or course enrolment if you're training), photo ID, and a basic DBS check. A DBS share code is quickest
